Executive Director’s Visit to Carriacou: Responding to Hurricane Beryl’s Devastation
Our Executive Director recently embarked on a significant journey to Carriacou, an island deeply affected by the devastation of Hurricane Beryl. This visit aimed to witness the impact firsthand and extend our support to the resilient residents of this small island community.
Upon arrival, our Executive Director was immediately immersed in the challenging reality faced by Carriacou’s inhabitants. The hurricane’s aftermath left many without basic necessities, including a stable water supply. Demonstrating our organization’s commitment to hands-on assistance, he joined residents in carrying water, offering both physical help and moral support during this difficult time. His presence provided comfort and hope as he offered prayers to those in need.
In addition to connecting with residents, our Executive Director engaged with members of the Royal Grenada Police Force. The island’s only police station was significantly damaged, highlighting the critical infrastructure needs.
Recognizing the urgent necessity for aid, the Foreign Mission Board has pledged a generous $25,000 USD to assist in the rebuilding process. This significant commitment aims to address immediate needs and lay the groundwork for long-term recovery. The funds will be directed towards essential infrastructure repairs, including the police station, and supporting the community’s broader rehabilitation efforts, bringing a ray of hope to the island.
We stand with Carriacou and its residents as they navigate the challenging path to recovery. Our commitment goes beyond financial aid; it encompasses a promise to walk alongside this resilient community, offering support, prayers, and hope for a brighter future. Together, we can rebuild and restore, ensuring that Carriacou emerges stronger from this adversity.
